What is Manchester Together?

The Lilly Endowment Inc. has created the College Community Collaboration (CCC) to encourage Universities and their surrounding communities to work together on transformative projects to strengthen the quality of place within the community, and to strengthen the University’s ability to attract and retain students, faculty and staff. Lilly is willing to provide millions of dollars (up to $25 million) in resources to college towns and university communities that have compelling ideas and a plan to make a stronger future.

Why did the University start Manchester Together?
Manchester University was awarded a planning grant by the Lilly Endowment Inc. to engage in efforts to develop a plan for a catalytic project that will create a more vibrant place in which to live, learn, work, and play. If the project is selected, the University could receive up to $25 million to implement it.

How does Manchester Together affect me?
You live, work, study, and play in this community. You know it inside and out. Your input will be vital in creating a project that will positively impact the fabric of Manchester University and our community, and as a result, enhance the quality of life for you, your children and your grandchildren…and for people who choose to attend the University and make this place home.

Who is involved?

A group, led by Manchester University President Stacy Young, comprised of university staff, local government officials, and Wabash County representatives serve as the Leadership Group. This group is heading up Manchester Together, but in order to make it a success, they need the engagement and input of the students, faculty, and staff of Manchester University, as well as residents, business owners, and other key stakeholders from the surrounding community.
